AUGUST: Students will be creating their pinwheels for the Pinwheels for Peace project.
SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER: Pointillism. Students will learn about French Impressionist artist George Seurat and the style of painting called pointillism. Scholastic Art magazines featuring Seurat will be used to begin our discovery of this style of painting. Students will create their own landscape paintings using tempera paint & Q-tips. NAStandards: 1-6.
NOVEMBER-DECEMBER: Eye of God. Students will learn about Native American Fiber Arts and learn how to weave an Eye of God. Students will also learn how to make tassels for added visual interest. These can be used as Christmas ornaments. NAStandards: 1-6
Students who finish early will be able to paint Snow Scenes on blue, red, or green paper using white paint.
