AUGUST: Students will be creating their pinwheels for the Pinwheels for Peace project.
SEPTEMBER: "Color Crayons". Students will learn how primary colors mix to make the secondary colors using watercolor paint on paper. After these are dry, students will add line, shape & pattern to the crayon shapes & then glue it onto construction paper.
NAStandards: 1,3,5 & 6.
OCTOBER: Los Dias de los Muertes. Mariposas will be made to help celebrate this Mexican Holiday for All Saints Day & All Souls Day. Students will use their knowledge of color when coloring white coffee filters with markers. These are dipped in water which blends the colors together. A pipe cleaner twist finishes the Butterfly! NAStandards:1-6.
NOVEMBER: Paper Plate Angels. Students will color & then assemble their little "sculpture" angels. They will learn about form, 3-dimensional art & good craftsmanship skills. NAStandards: 1-3,5.
DECEMBER: Painting like Georges Rouault. Students will view a short video clip about this amazing artist & his thick paintings of clowns, people, saints & Biblical figures. They will choose a saint to depict in this style; paintings like stained glass! These will be painted on provided paper for our first Kid's Art Fair. NAStandards: 1-6.
